Wii Fat

After losing 5.2 pounds on Jenny last week I felt ready to start upping the exercise.  I had used my Wii Fit before but had never set up the profile and my lovely 9 year old daughter decided to help me out.  So, not only did the Wii Fit say I was obese but it also said that I resemble someone 58 years old...  My ideal weight per the Wii is less than I weighed before I had kids or got married, seriously, that is skinny.  So, I got off that darn Wii and headed to Cooper's baseball game.  Hopefully "wii" will kiss and make up soon.

Me Speechless....

Well, I had weigh in yesterday and things have been good but not quite as I had hoped until last night.  Drumroll please....5.2 pounds in one week!!!  What the heck?  So in 4 weeks I have lost 9.8 pounds and 7 inches.  I am officially a Jenny Craig believer!

Neither my counselor or I believed it.  We both stood there staring at the number like it would change.  I think the difference has been more water and too busy to think about the hunger.  Now if I could just keep this going another few months I will be Valerie Bertinelli instead of Kirstie Alley!

Yes is WAY OVERUSED!

So today was another fulfilling day as a working mother.  It started with Adam forgetting his gym shorts and his off-handed question whether I could go get them....  And of course I answered "Yes" and it went like this:

It seemed easy to drive back home but I of course forgot about the traffic going by all of the schools to get home (the junior high, high school and elementary school are at the same intersection and 90% of the students are driven) so I decided to jump on the highway which was of course backed up because it was down to one lane.  Then I come home and go to Adam's room which looked like this:

So, of course I couldn't find any clean gym shorts in his room but there were some in the clean clothes still in his clothes basket from a week ago (note that the dirty clothes are on the floor because the basket is still in the laundry with clean clothes).  So I rummage through the clean clothes that are completely wrinkled because they were never folded and run out of the house with a clean pair of gym shorts.  I am not 30 minutes into this adventure.  I go back through the traffic to the school and gosh darn it I am going to talk to that kid.  I have him called out of class and hand him the shorts, sit on the bench by the front door of school and have a lecture on respect, responsibility, entitlement and how his 1 action has impacted my day.  I now need to work late because I was late getting into work....  Needless to say there is nothing like coming home to the sound of the washer and dryer and it wasn't started by you!

And since I haven't discussed my weight loss journey in a few days I have to tell you that I was VERY SCARED to go to Jenny Craig tonight.  I kept thinking of all of the things I had done wrong all week, not remembering anything I had done right.  After some counsel from friends I braved my way to the scale and YAHOO, lost 1.6 pounds!  I think I can do this another week!!

Here's to saying YES to me more often and NO to the kids more often...

Fallen off the wagon?

So it's been a while since I've posted...  What is my excuse?  The dog ate my laptop?  Scratch that, everyone knows I've been on Facebook.  Jenny Craig kicked me out of the program?   Scratch that, they take your money even if you aren't losing weight (I've lost 3 pounds!).  Seriously, it's just the crazy, busy life of a working mother.

So where do I begin?

The week started off with a bang with Coop waking me up in the middle of the night with his eyes sealed shut (obviously he could open them up enough to make it across the room to my side of the bed).  Yep, sealed up pink eyes.  After an early morning visit to urgent care I went to pick up his prescriptions only to find out that my insurance company had cancelled the dependent coverage because I failed to submit a marriage license and birth certificates to prove that the people I have had on my insurance plan since 1997 really belong to me.  Lord knows, who else would want them!

Tonight my 6th grader called me at 3:10 to ask if I would pick him up at the school.  Ummm, I'm at work, a good half hour away.  We of course forgot that there was an after school "party" and he didn't have the $4 he needed for admission.  I sent him to find his brother in the locker room getting ready for football to ask for the money - problem solved.  Until my phone rang at 4:15 and my 9 year old called to say she is home alone.  Crap, I forgot that if Coop and Adam were at school, no one would be home to watch Mac!!  With every intention of driving home I tried to wrap things up.  At about 5:00 Mac called to say Coop was picking on her, problem solved, she is no longer at home alone!!!  Of course I still hadn't left work....

I did have some major successes though!  Count me in as the first person to obtain the coveted Glamour Witch Costume from Party City!  There will be no scrounging for costumes on October 30th for me!!  I hope I have the same foresight in January to ensure that Maclaine doesn't have to have random Valentine's Day cards purchased on February 13th at midnight and hastily assembled on Valentine's morning.  I feel like I am really making progress on getting organized!  Now if I could just get the dehydated french fries, chewed up wads of gum and Mac's ever growing collection of "stuff" out of the mini-van, I'd really feel like I'd accomplished something.  Have a great night all!!

Really, the place can survive without me?

Yep, that's me, martyr times 10!  For the last several months I have neglected to take vacation from work because there was too much going on, meetings I couldn't reschedule, customers coming into town or some other reason.  I need to seriously get over myself....  So, life threw me the unexpected today as I was supposed to travel to Iowa for work but Tim needed to travel and his reasons trumped mine and here I sit.  So since my calendar was already cleaned off for travel I checked with my boss and moved up my finally planned week of vacation in late September and taking this week off instead!!!

So my dear blog followers, you can follow me on my newest quest to shed "things".  I think Jenny Craig is helping me shed not just pounds but also shed some emotional and physical baggage that I've been carrying around with me for years!  My goal for the week is to continuing the decluttering I started earlier this year, this time going through bins stored in my basement of things from my dad's house, things Tim and I have saved through the years and things I have saved for the kids.  I am going to organize and get this beautiful basement that my friend Eric created for me into a place fit for what it was intended - having fun!!  So, for those of you who have been enjoying some of my 80's flashbacks, be ready for lots more.  I'm heating up the scanner and pulling out the Thriller album and gettin busy!!!

I LOVE CRAIG'S LIST!!!

For the first time in our almost 19 years together Tim and I got new bedroom furniture!!  For those of you that remember, Tim was going to get me a bed for Christmas but when I got a hold of what he was thinking I stopped that idea dead in it's tracks!  The bed he had picked out was like one of those 1980's, country oak water bed frames with curly q's burned into the wood and a mirror in the headboard....  So, suffice it to say I finally splurged and got my new furniture!!  I LOVE IT!!  Of course I was very original since I just went and ordered the same bedroom set my sister has when I was in Waterloo a month ago and Tim was in Orlando (thought it would go over better for me to spend the money while he was spending money with the boys in Florida).

Our prior furniture included 2 hand me down dressers from my oldest sister Kathi, we've had them for 15 years and not sure how long she had them.  Anyway, I took pics before I had even emptied the drawers and put them on Craigslist.  Within 5 minutes I had someone wanting to come and get them!  I had to empty the drawers, dust off the cobwebs on the back of them, shine them up a bit and move them towards the door while Tim and Coop were at football practice.  By the time they got home the lady was here to collect them!!  Coop asked how much I got and I said $100, he said WOW, we must have some good stuff!!  I think he's eyeing our belongings and seeing what he can sell :0  Note to self:  Don't leave Coop home unattended with a computer....

And by the way, Jenny Craig is going VERY WELL!  The food is actually fantastic!  I have learned that it is definitely about portion control...

Well, I am off to Adam's football scrimmage, hope it is a nice cool morning.  I am ready for football weather!!!!

What do you mean peas are bad?

So, I had a follow-up at Jenny Craig today and I was so proud of myself!  It was my second day on the program and all has gone well.  I was supposed to have a cup and a half of cooked veggies with my chicken alfredo last night and I threw in some frozen peas.  So, I go to talk to my counselor and tell her and she looks at me with these huge eyes and said "Oh no!  Not peas!"  I can have sugar snap peas but not peas...  aren't there peas in sugar snap peas?  Who would ever think that "sugar" snap peas are better for you than regular green peas?

Tonight is back to school night at the junior high, the point is to go from class to class like your child does and meet the teachers.  This year they are doing all 3 grades on the same night and Tim is out of town so I would have to do both kids schedules simultaneously.  It wore me out just thinking about it so I am laying in bed contemplating what to watch on TV.  Sometimes you just have to say NO!

One last thing, on my way home from work tonight there were estate sale signs up at the front of the subdivision.  I can never turn away from a good estate sale!  I purchased a pool table - I tried to call Tim before I made the purchase and no answer so I went for it.   Usually this scenario doesn't go so well but this time, I guess I done good!   Now I just have to figure out how to get it home....
